Best Vegan And Vegetarian Documentaries On Netflix
The Netflix catalog is a living thing with binge-worthy content coming and going with each month.
You may not always find these titles available on Netflix but, they are worth mentioning.
I’ve enjoyed many vegan, vegetarian, and health-focused documentaries on Netflix, these are the very best.
- What The Health
- Forks Over Knives
- Peaceable Kingdom
- Fat, Sick, And Nearly Dead
- Food, Inc
- In Defense Of Food
- The Milk System
What The Health
What The Health will always be one of my favorite vegan and health-related documentaries.
This incredible documentary features Kip Anderson and exposes the truths about meat and dairy consumption, the industries producing these products, and how they try to cover up the truth.
Cowspiracy is another great Kip Anderson movie along with Keegan Kuhn that discusses the environmental disaster that is the meat industry.
Forks Over Knives
Forks Over Knives is a classic film that is based on the health benefits of a vegan or vegetarian plant-based diet.
It’s an inspiring film that you can’t help but walk away from with a desire to make changes to your own life.
Peaceable Kingdom is the story of a bunch of farmers that have decided against killing animals and have become vegan along the way.
Vegucated follows three New Yorks as they test out a vegan diet for six weeks.
This film is about their story, process, and what they learn along the way.
Fat, Sick, And Nearly Dead
This documentary is a classic and is a must-see in my opinion for anyone that is interested in a healthier lifestyle.
It follows the journey of Joe Cross who is overweight and unhealthy as well as suffering from an autoimmune disease.
His journey to regain his health and life is inspiring and worth a watch.
Another great movie that exposes the food industry and its practices.
In Defense Of Food
This is a Micheal Pollan documentary that is based on the ultimate question of “what should we eat to be healthy?”.
We often forget about the fishing industry and seafood as a whole.
This is an amazingly eye-opening documentary about the fishing industry and marine life in general.
The Milk System
This is a must-watch because many vegetarians still consume milk and dairy products without being aware of the truths behind the dairy industry.
More Great Vegan And Vegetarian Documentaries On Netflix
Although these documentaries have not made my top ten list they are still amazing and worth a watch.
- The Game Changers
- Fat, Sick, And Nearly Dead 2
- Hungry For A Change
- Explained (The Future Of Meat)
The Game Changers
The Game Changers is about top-level athletes that thrive off of vegan plant-based diets.
You will learn all about how these amazing athletes excel off of plants and the health and lifestyle benefits that they enjoy.
This documentary features Joaquin Phoenix and is a tear-jerker that discusses how we as humans use animals for pets, food, clothing, entertainment, and for science.
It’s not always a pretty reality for animals due to human treatment.
Blackfish is about the captivity of Orca Whales and the story of one Orca named Tilikum that was captured and brought to Seaworld.
This particular Orca was responsible for the deaths of three people during captivity.
It’s not a family-friendly movie due to containing footage of an attack on a trainer.
Fat, Sick, And, Nearly Dead 2
The sequel to the original is just as good as the first but, you must see the original film before you can truly appreciate its sequel.
Hungry For A Change
This documentary focuses on detoxification and how it is connected to healthy living and weight loss.
Explained (The Future Of Meat)
Explained is a great series that is worth checking out.
One episode, in particular, is The Future Of Meat episode, which discussed the future and effects of lab-grown meat.
Rotten is a docu-series that exposes the truths hidden behind many of the products we enjoy every day like avocados and chocolate.
it is always fun to sit down and enjoy a great documentary, luckily Netflix is filled with great options.
If a vegan, vegetarian or healthy lifestyle documentary is your jam this list is filled with some interesting and educational films.
